Mine Manager - Diamonds (West Africa)

Our client is seeking a Mine Manager for their alluvial diamond mining operation in West Africa. The company has a strong African focus and has exploration, development and near term production projects in four countries.
The position reports in to the CEO and is responsible for the overall management of the alluvial mining operation to ensure delivery of a cost effective, efficient and profitable alluvial mine while demonstrating good corporate governance and sound stakeholder management especially with the local community.
Responsibilities:
- The incumbent must have a proven track record of success in developing and mining alluvial diamond deposits in remote settings, both on time and within budget.
- Experience in mine planning, grade control, mine fleet management & maintenance is a principle requirement.
- Knowledge of modern diamond security and technology is essential
- Furthermore, the ability to effectively manage & communicate with a diverse work force and operate harmoniously in local communities is a necessity.
Requirements:
· 10 years relevant industry experience
· A relevant Mine Engineering qualification is essential
· Post Graduate degree advantageous
· Mine Overseer Certificate advantageous
· Proficient in relevant mining software applications
· Sound operational as well as technical skills
Conditions:
· The position will be FIFO, single status.
· R+R rotas still to be established.
· The company will negotiate an attractive salary and incentive share option scheme with the right candidate, and contracts initially will be on an annual, renewable basis.
