Planning Mine Engineer (Underground)

PLANNING MINE ENGINEER (UNDERGROUND)

My client in the Middle East is seeking an underground planning mine engineer for their current mining operations.

Position purpose

·         Provide sound engineering input into the mine as it moves from development into production.

·        Ensure optimal extraction of targeted ore from the mine by providing timely advice on mine design and mining methods, mine plans and the resulting development and production schedules to achieve agreed operating objectives.

·        Ensure statutory compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, and to set and maintain high standards in safety and health.

·         Assume responsibility for decisions within the mining planning and function of the mine and will be able to justify those decisions with sound reasoning.

·        The role will seek the support of the Senior Mining Engineer Planning who will provide coordinated direction and operating objectives as well as nine other team members.

Key Responsibility Areas

·          Development of medium-long term mine plans

·          Assist with the completion of LOM schedules

·         Build and review cost models associated with mine expansions and special projects

·          Training of Saudi Mining Engineers

 Key requirements

·          Tertiary degree in Engineering (Mining)

·          First Aid Certificate

·         3-4 years post graduate experience in underground hard rock mining operations

·         Experience in a mine planning role with medium-long term planning

·         Planning role with underground production and planning experience in a mechanized hard rock underground mine.

·          Mining technology and heavy production equipment experience.

·         Recognised understanding of statutory regulations and best practices.

·          Experience using mining design software

·          Good communicator

·          High safety standards

·          Fluent in English

·          Knowledge of spoken and written Arabic advantageous

·         Assist with studies on mine expansions and new surface operations
