CA Global: Mineral Infrastructure (International Positions) has a client that is looking for a President / Executive Director (Steel Plant Operations). The position will be based in India.
 
 
Overview:
The purpose of the role is to continuously scan the business environment and ensure long term viability, profitability and timely execution of projects within the prescribed time, cost and quality parameters.
 
Starting from project engineering such as basic and detailed engineering , selection of the technology , selection of the equipments procurement, construction / erection, commissioning (Cold and Hot), operation and stabilization of the coal based, Gas based, Iron and steel making units. 
 
Direct initiatives towards continuous improvements in the division by implementing the best in class practices.
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operation and stabilization of the coal based, Gas based , Iron and steel making units.
• Implementing best technology and practices;
• Conceptualizing & structuring processes and systems to ensure operational excellence in the organization;
• Optimizing productivity for producing quality steel at the most competitive lowest operating cost;
• Formulating and implementing aggressive business strategies for achieving a dominant presence in the steel sector;
• Setup short-term and long-term objectives and develop strategies for achieving the same;
• Drive enhanced focus in the areas of safety, cost consciousness & productivity;
• Operation and stabilization of the coal based, Gas based, Iron and steel making units;
• Build organizational competencies to deliver strategic objectives
• Build & participate in critical areas of People Management
• Evaluate possibilities of partnerships and technical collaborations through the development of high level relations with authorities and organizations in the steel sector.
• Reviewing and monitoring steel project plant design, selection of right technology / right vendor etc.
• Techno feasibility study and report.
• Man power allocation, tap all the desired resources needed and provide leadership to entire project team
• Managing technology infrastructure deployment, integration, support and administration, in existing or new offices/operations. 
• Build a team anchored in group values and motivated to achieve its vision and mission.
 
 
 
Key Result Areas:
Financial
• Percentage growth in earnings before Interest, Taxes Depreciation and Amortization.
• Percentage deviation from project costs/budget.
• Percentage cost savings achieved while adhering to the prescribed time and quality parameters.
Customer
• Internal (developer) customer satisfaction as per Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
• Efficiently, timely and profitable performance of contract to delight internal & external customers.
• % increase in external Customer Satisfaction such as vendor / external agencies etc.
• Number of projects completed on time.
 
Internal
• Develop an integrated risk management system and tracking mechanism which includes investment risks, strategic planning risks and project pipeline/portfolio.
• Measure the output of processes in terms of quantity, safety and cost-to assess whether targets have been activated and identify possible improvements and efficiencies that can be achieved
• Percentage of all project milestones adhered to.
• Percentage adherence to quality standards and operating processes.
Learning and Growth
• Number of critical positions for which leadership pipeline has been developed.
• Percentage reduction in attrition rate of function heads.
• Percentage increase in no. of multiskill , multifunction global leaders .
 
 
Requirements:
Education:   The ideal candidate will be an Engineering graduate (Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgical) with 22- 30 years of experience in heading the operation of a mega integrated steel plant with outstanding international success track record.
 
He will be expected to bring in Global know how in the areas of technology, systems & processes, productivity enhancement and also provide leadership to the existing operations and spear head the future expansion plans.
 
Years of Experience: 22 - 30 years
